The Feet and the Hands
Major movement from his feet, his hands, and his tongue!! Yes his tongue! That might not sound like a big deal, but his tongue has been almost motionless, he needs it to eat, to do raspberries and to talk, and it is on the MOVE!!
He was evaluated by early intervention and he qualifies for services in speech and in gross motor physical therapy. We took Eli back to Pittsburgh to the feeding clinic and he failed thin liquids again. So we have to use thickened feeds, upright position, but cheek and chin support only when he is very tired.
A VERY exciting development…wait for it…. Another special little guy was born at the agency….there was no family. We are out of money so I contacted a friend that I met online. They are not quite paper ready and the agency agreed to let us be temporary cradle care so he does not have to fall into the SYSTEM…It took a lot of emails, encouraging the agency that it is the best for this little guy to have a permanent home. He is BABY BOY H. and will be going home with Sheila and Rick. After….we pick him up Wednesday from York hospital and love on him for two weeks…more about that soon!!
“You guys are saints.”
“How do you do it, you must have a ton of patience.”
“Aren’t you getting too old for this.”
The comments are endless, but we are just doing what we are called to do. Nothing any more special than…coaching little league as a CHRISTIAN, playing the piano at church, teaching Sunday School, cleaning your frail momma’s house, or praying in your home for others. We are just being obedient to our calling and doing it with all our might.
“For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body: is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee, nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which SEEM to be more feeble are necessary..gosh that whole chapter is awesome : I Corinthians 12:14-22 read the rest too 😉
You don’t need to do what we do, but you need to do something, you are called for something. Come on, we need you!! We, the BODY, need you to do your part, no slacking; to the BEST of your ability, through God’s strength you CAN do whatever you are called to do.
