Oh my goodness!! Got an email yesterday from the lawyer in VA… VA is a paper finalization state, so we knew we would not know the date until after the fact.
I must admit, I really enjoy the formality of the courtroom finalization that we do in PA. The seriousness, the affirmation, and enjoying the caseworkers getting to say hello/goodbye. That sense of completeness…
An email and a “He is finalized as of October 29,2014”
and it is now November the 4th; just is anticlimactic.
Here are some pictures of the journey…
finalized on ELI on May1, 2013 got the call about Josiah May 17, 2013
Phone call and our yes; packing to travel to VA; meeting Josiah; travelling back; calling an ambulance; in Richmond hospital; driving back to PA to drop three kids off while leaving Josiah in the hospital; driving back; staying with him in the hospital for a few more days; travel to Fairfax to stay with a friend while waiting on ICPC; problem with ICPC; Ray travels to Harrisburg with Ian to complete what was missing; ICPC approval; coming home; delay due to filing for SSI, subsidy; etc… now Josiah is almost 18 months old (NOV 14th) and we are FINALIZED!! whoo hoo!!
